Alameda, Portland Real Estate
The Alameda neighborhood runs along the rock-filled plateau that is now known as Alameda Ridge. While the ridge is relatively low, it stands out prominently on Portland’s flat east side. Sitting high above the city, the highest section of ridge, and west of Northeast 33rd Avenue is the heart of the Alameda neighborhood.

Alameda Homes
Alameda real estate features a mix of older houses, bungalows, English Tudors, colonial revival, and stucco-sided, tile roofed mission revival homes, on tree-lined streets with sidewalks. The homes on the ridge itself or high up on the southern slopes tend to be grand homes, often with rich architectural detailing and most offer tremendous views over the city to the south and west. The Alameda homes on the ridge sell for well over a million dollars. Off the ridge, most Alameda homes are more standard (not modest) and less expensive (not cheap).
Alameda is hilly on the ridge below the ridge, streets are laid out in grid-block with mature trees and wooded parks. This established neighborhood was laid out in 1909 by the Alameda Land Company as the exclusive Alameda Park subdivision.
Alameda is residential with single family homes and no commercial establishments. Homes are very well-maintained and yards are well-tended. You will find trendy neighborhood shops, coffee shops, and high level of community involvement.
Drive time to downtown Portland is 12-13 minutes by car. There is no MAX light rail or streetcar in the area, but TriMet does have 3 bus services. Walking scores range from the low 50s to the 60s. Well-established people with 90% home ownership live in Alameda.
